And the award goes to...

Mary Mauldin for her colorful interpretation of "Her Favorite Color."
Flat Stanley enjoyed attending the premier event in Tifton this weekend...the Love Affair! It is an arts festival that is held the first weekend in May each year. I especially enjoy this festival because I get to enter my work from my art class. This is the watercolor painting I made for my mom for Mother's Day. If you want to learn more about Tifton's Love Affair, just go to http://www.tiftonloveaffair.org/ and click on any of the cool events!

Take dead aim...

is my brother, Camden's, slogan. He's favorite sport is golf. He is really lucky that we live on a golf course because he can just walk out our backdoor and head to #7. Not only is it really cool to watch my brother play golf, it is really cool to live in Tifton and like golf because Tifton is home to Tift Green Tuft! If you know anything about grass (which I don't really, but my mom said that we had to say something about our grass - weird!), then you will already know about Tifton Turf. If you don't know anything about grass (like me) just go to www.abac.edu/ag/outdoor.cfm and click on the outdoor learning project links for cool information from our local college. I thought you might want to see my brother on the course.

..Flat Stanley is thinking about taking up this gentleman's sport...I am worried we won't be able to find clubs short enough for him.

Here comes Peter Cottontail!

We took Flat Stanley with us to Edison, Georgia. (just go to http://www.georgiacountymap.com/ and click on Calhoun county to see all the amazing facts about Edison. Edison is a VERY tiny town. It used to have a caution light, but they took it down because there wasn't enough traffic to even use the light! This is where my Granddaddy and Meemaw live. We visit every Easter for a great lunch and the traditional Easter Egg Hunt!

You can see that some eggs were harder to find than others. Flat Stanley and I found one of the Golden Eggs! These are especially great to find because they have money in the egg! We found an egg with $2 in it!

Just a spoonful of sugar...

and Flat Stanley was a chef! We decided to make some sugar cookies in honor of Springtime in South Georgia. The best part was the icing...and my mom's cookies were not bad either.

One berry, two berries, three berries, four...

and more berries to pick at the Rutland Farms Strawberry Patch! We had a large time hunting strawberries and eating fresh strawberry ice cream.
With Flat Stanley's help, and a little help from Mary Mauldin's sister Caelan and her friends Kate Marie and Casey, we managed to pick a whole bucket full of berries! Just in time to dip in chocolate for the Easter Bunny!

I really enjoy going to Rutland Farms with my family to pick strawberries, but my favorite part is the ice cream. My mom is very excited about all the fresh produce that we will get to enjoy this summer. Tifton is home to many farmers and we get to eat fresh fruit and vegetables from March through October. My favorite things are peaches and butter beans. My daddy loves creamed corn, but it sure takes a lot of effort to pick, shuck, silk, and cream that corn. I usually don't last long when it comes to creaming corn...sometimes I might get an ear with a worm and I am done for the day. Too bad Flat Stanley won't be here in June...that is prime vegetable season!

If you want to learn more about the farms and produce in Georgia, visit http://www.rutlandfarms.com/ and check out the great things they are growing!

Welcome to T-Town!

Flat Stanley made his way down south to Tifton, Georgia! Tifton is home to many things (which you can see if you travel down Interstate 75...we have more Billboards than any other town in South Georgia...quite the accomplishment.

The first thing Flat Stanley had to learn when he came to Tifton was how to blow gnats. Tifton is located south of the gnat line. If you are unfamiliar with gnats, just imagine a tiny little annoying bug that flies in swarms. This little buggers love to fly into your eyes and ears, and are especially skillful at flying up your nose! Flat Stanley had a rough time in the beginning, but after his lengthy stay in Tifton, he is a master at blowing gnats!

The second thing that Flat Stanley had to do when he arrived was get to know his surroundings...what better way to learn the lay of the land than study a map! Follow this link http://www.georgiacountymap.com/ to see all the counties in Georgia. If you click on "Tift" county, you will see what Flat Stanley saw when he arrived. You can check out all the government and local information for Tifton...pretty cool, huh!
